new seagull owner

Post by simonsavingseagulls »

Hi to you all , I am now the owner of two seagulls, am I in trouble? I started off with a fourty plus which is in my workshop for a rebuild (thanks John for the parts!) but now also have a silver century fourty plus with gears thanks to ebay! Is there a cure or a therapy group available. I haven't even told the wife yet, I wait until she's out to go on here. Hopefully I will get over it , in the meantime I will probably be consulting the forum from time to time so thanks in advance. Also thanks to johns excellent website which got me interested in these great motors when I came accross my old seagull and wanted to know more. I use a cheap and nasty Tohatsu at the moment which though efficient will probably have to be chucked away when it goes wrong as the parts will be obsolete or because stripping the motor will be impossible due to corrosion. Real shame those EU s****s killed off the British seagull.

Don't worry about sneaking off and working on your seagulls.

Be open with the other half, sit her down and explain the excitement!!! you get over working on these lovely!!! old motors and make sure that you explain the full workings in detail to your beloved, and after a few minutes you should get a definite sigh like the lights are on but nobody's in. At this point you will be able to buy as many seagulls as you like because your wife will not be at all interested in seagulls again and will switch off whenever you mention them, (unless she is asleep - Keith's wife)!

Then hang a couple on the radiator " because it is cold down the shed” that is good for a laugh.

They will lose count after about 10 engines, so don’t worry. :D :D

Oh Simon i think the only cure from seagull addiction is death, something that my misses will only be to willing to help me with. So to wind her up further i find myself on perminant lookout for more seagulls.
I'm only a newbie so am only on my 3rd.

I do bring parts in the warmth of the house to clean and allow the new paint to harden. Something else that she fails to understand.

!40 gearbox oil will not come out of the carpet.

Also when you try and get the rust out of the cyliunder whilst watching TV that can make a mess.

Most of it will hoover up.

I have not tried the dishwasher yet.
