locating points

Post by alidell1 »

I have a SJP6264. I beleive that it a forty plus. From my research I understand that to adjust points, you take the started pulley off and adjust through the hole. There doesn't appear to be any access with the starter pulley removed. Any Hints??

You've got the 2 piece aluminum pulley and not the one piece black plastic one, yes? You've only removed the top portion. Now take the "Best Outboard for the World" part off and you'll find the access holes. It should just pop off, but may need some gentle persuasion.

Thanks, I got the piece off but it doesn't look like there are any points or adjustment; at least not any points that look like the old cars I used to work on.
