Stolen Seagull :(

Post by lizardland »

Hi Folks,

someone swiped my Seagull at the weekend :( I've not bothered reporting it to the Police, stupidly I can't find the serial number written down anywhere and it cost less than my insurance excess so I didn't fancy spending Sunday morning sat filling out forms but here's the best description of it that I can think of:

- EPFC Model 55
- Long shaft
- All I can remember of the number is the date mark, DD0
- Broken air bleed screw on the fuel cap (hopefully it's pissed fuel over the inside of whoever took it's car)
- Battered blue steel tank
- Black Villiers carb
- Damaged throttle cable, the sheath was damaged and the previous owner had strapped a bit of tubing over it held in place with some wire
- Three blade prop with forward and neutral

Taken in the West Lancs area, near Ormskirk. Annoyingly, after living in the house for four years and being able to come and go, leave your doors open, leave stuff outside, etc., it got lifted on the weekend I was moving out. I guess someone saw us moving stuff, knew the place would be empty at night and came looking to see what they could help themselves to . Luckily, they near enough had to step over about a grand's worth of dive kit to get it, shows how thick they are. Anyhow... lesson learnt :( From now on it's replacement will either be locked on the boat or under lock and key inside.

With all the engines knocking round on Ebay I don't expect it back but it would be nice to make life a bit harder for the idiot.

Cheers,

Stuart

Dave you must have a much better Police force in your area than I do.

If you phone them up, an admin person will give you a crime number so that you can claim on your insurance.

They will be too busy manning the speed cameras to waste time looking for an old outboard.

& the insurance company will value it at a little bit less than your excess, so no cheque in the post, but your premium might rise as you used to live in a high risk area & you've made a claim.
Make it idiot proof and someone will make a better idiot.
