i have a model 75,esc 181 hh1 having a lot of trouble trying to get her out of drive, clutch fork dosent want to go into nuetral unless pushed down very hard.
took the prop of and looked at the part,s book it said there should be a rubber oil seal on mine there is a brass one.
would the brass one be restricting movement of the cluth fork whereas the rubber one would give it a bit play.
just starting to use seagulls and it is starting to confuse me.
just one more small question put a new spark plug in today champion d 16 when i took the old one out discovered some water in there .

I have a thought that maybe this is assembled wrongly. Firstly these (relatively late) gearboxes have a proper oil seal [ # C40/236] and outer rubber oil seal cover [C40/239]. There is no "rubber washer" oil seal on an ESC model.
Secondly the front face of the clutch fork should act directly on the back face of the gearbox housing and the rear face of the fork should act on the large brass 2" diam thrust washer [C1410]. There should not be a brass washer assembled between the clutch fork and the gearbox housing. From your description it sounds as though the brass thrust washer has been put back in the wrong position.

Finding water in the upper bore after you take the plug out is not good news if indeed it was water. If something is indeed wrong then best case is a head gasket problem, worst case is cracked bore letting water in from the outer water jacket. Actually finding water would mean a really bad leak and I'm surprised it runs at all.
identical to your,s HA,and i found that the motor had been inverted as it was being carried up the ladder at the harbour wall.
it is an esc model but no drawings for it in the part,s book near, est to it is the silver century 75.
had her out to,day plug out when back into the harbour no water did find though she would,nt go into nuetral at very low revs gave her some more rev,s popped into nuetral no problem.
thank,s for all help and advice.
