Removing Float & Needle from Amal Twin Jet

Post by OwdJockey »

Hello everyone, new member here and my first cry for help!

At present overhauling my SIlver Century Amal carb and would like to clean any debris from the base of the float chamber. I think I need to prise the soldered spring clip open to allow the float to pass up over the needle. However, without applying any real force at the moment the needle does not want to part from the float. Do I need to apply a bit more pressure? Thanks

While you are at it remove the float chamber retaining bolt and check the little filter that is in the bolt.
