Forty/Featherweight up and running

Post by John1952 »

Hi all, hope this ok to open up another thread!
At long long last the little bugger is running :D
It was a nightmare after days of doing literally everything but what a learning curve it was!
Made up a piece in work to go into my drill, took off the carb, prop, and took the plug out, and span the flywheel for five minutes.
Did not increase the size of the spark!
Put the carb back on and the plug in, pulled the cord about ten times, still no joy!
Then thought bugger it, I decided to put the drill back on to the flywheel, pulled the trigger and after about ten seconds she flashed up and I kept the drill on it to keep her going!
I left her running for about five minuets, then stopped it to cool down.
After cooling down she fired up on the third pull with a great water flow.
I would once again like to thank everyone for their help and advice in helping me to get this stubborn old girl going!
I now know if I ever come across one like this again i will put the drill to it. A great learning curve for me! :D

Hi,
well done for sticking with it!
I see you live in Plymouth, do you/did you know Jon Jon and Ruby the ice cream van people? If so, do you know big Ron from the yard (rigger) and the Lion and Coloumn darts team?
My brother-in-law!

Dont know Jon Jon and Ruby personally, but everyone talks good of them! their house is not far from me.
I work on the tugs in the yard so probably have seen big Ron from time to time!
Seagulls, I love em, theres something addictive about them isnt there, I have five now! :D
