Re: Painting flywheels, magnetic issue?
Lets knock this one down straight away. There is no way any paint could ever effect magnetism. This is a myth. Had a frustrated would be contributor contact me as he could not manage to register on the Forum. He wanted to add a scientific comment... I can see his frustration. As he says you could ev...

John

Re: Serial Number Identifier
An oddity! The letter L was not used in the date code sequence.. Is this by some chance a 'longshaft' motor? If it is maybe the 4 after the 'L' has been added by someone and this is a very early CP longshaft. We have seen some that were used my the military stamped with 'L4' after engine numbers, bu...

Seagull collection, partly for sale
I have heard from Andrew Dawson of Sherringham, in Norfolk that he wishes to sell part of his large collection of Seagulls. He has a garage full of them, mostly in very good condition. He is thinning out his collection and if anyone is interested please contact him by phone, as he is no longer on li...

Re: 4,000 missing seagulls
Hello Charles Seeing you are looking to rewind coils, did you want the later Villiers one as well? Might be a source of bits, tubes etc.. I have a few here, brand new but suspect. (at least one is a dead short inside) They biodegrade in store just as easily as in use! I will save them for you. (I re...

Re: Who knew...?
Hello all. The guy is all bull! The seal was made specifially for one model and I still have these seals in stock here. do not sell many! As I cleared the factory in 1996, his cock and bull story about that is shot. The seal can be pushed into the casing tube, but with people like this I could also ...

Re: Who knew...?
Love it!
I heard about this with incredulity.
What dipstick could sell rubbish like this... but then I found out who it was, another so called Seagull dealer not on the Seagull list of dealers and never likely to be.
I have to say it, there are some real sharks out there on EBay, beware!

Hello All. This is John here. I own this Forum and I am getting really tired of the language and tone taken by some who seem to not realise what I created this Forum for. It is for the aid and assistance of the owners of these old motors on technical matters and general use, hopefully on the basis ...

Seagull Inboard for SALE
I have come across a very nice Seagull 160 inboard. http://www.saving-old-seagulls.co.uk/items_for_sale/images/JOHN3607.JPG It is mounted on a display stand with what looks like a near new stainless exhaust system and the later cast Alloy air intake and carb container. It was hitched to a tank and w...

Re: GFP 40+ starts but won't get going
Well done Steve for keeping at it! Many would have thrown the towel in long ago, but you have shown so well, our little Seagulls are repairable, with patience and a little research, through these pages and the SOS website.. To ensure those scratches on the piston do not get worse make sure you use 2...
