Google is my default search engine.
Aparently it is a bug that Google seem very slow to fix. Google Groups will search all newsgroup posts - and its not showing an index link to further pages. If you add -
&start=10&sa=n
to the url of the first page it will load the second page - ie pages 11-19 ...

Re: RNLI, we can help!
Having a small cruising yacht - I do appreciate they are there at the end of a vhf call - and I have always subscribed to an offshore membership. I do however think there are some issues that could be addressed with regard funding.
For one - if the RNLI goes to the aid of a craft - and feel ...

Re: drive tube lugs
Of course the problem with this stuff is how it gets delivered. The place is up north somewhere.
I'm thinking to get back to him again - to double check on what gauge he could supply. Seagulls seem to be 2.5mm thick which is an swg size I think. I've looked a lot online for 1 1/8 tube and this is ...

drive tube lugs
I've been attacking a very rusty short shaft drive tube casing - and I see the lug is braised on. I always presumed they were welded.
Are all the lugs braised ? Or just the older ones ?
If so, they should knock off fairly easily at red heat - an would slip back on to suitable stainless polished ...

Re: Choke Housing split pin
Hi Steve
You were lucky - the choke housing is an easy fix, the tiller arm lug is terminal to the power head casing !
I kmow what you mean about the choke housing - screwing up tight in the wrong place - but they are usually so stiff it does not matter. Maybe a bit of ptfe tape on the last turns ...

Re: how to check a villiers coil?
Thanks Peter
Interesting - I think I will fit the later crankcase and fit the Wipac.
Anyone had any experience of the ones from Villiers Parts, listed @ £48 ? Are these genuine Villiers or oem ?

Re: how to check a villiers coil?
Peter - useful info, thanks -
So what reading would you expect from a new villiers type unit - or for that matter from a Wipac in perfect order ?
Using a 'very basic' analogue meter - on a Wipac ( apparently unused, as new ) I'm getting a 'very small' reading from the primary.
maybe 0.2. The ...

Re: how to check a villiers coil?
Hi Geoff,
just took my century apart to check,
points and condensor disconnected, using a fluke DVM,
points wire to ground 0.7 ohms
HT tag to ground 4.7k ohms
Got to put it back together now! Hope that helps.
Have been missing your Lena updates for a while, thought you had given up!

Re: inflatable with seagull
My wetline I use all the time on the mooring has a solid transom, the bottom of which is the lowest point of the bottom, and I doubt it sits down more than a couple of inches. But they do dig in when underway and depending on where you sit - and a roundtail would do so even more - as it does not ...

Re: how to check a villiers coil?

Maybe will pick up an analoge meter - but the digital was showing something about right on the good wipacs - looking at those specs for ohm readings - but nothing on all the villiers. I did notice that ...
