Saving Old Seagulls

I bought a new cork from John a week or so ago, and it worked perfectly. Only a few quid, and would seem the obvious solution to me, even with postage.

Actually I spoke to John from SOS, he suggested a week with the plasticene method

This is covered in faq's but I have tried the plasticene trick and it is still stuck, any other ideas? thanks
