I put the seagull back together a few weeks ago and gave her a pull - she started first pull and ran like a dream. She pumped water very well and sounded sweet, I had cured the hunting issue and stood back well pleased whilst she ran merrily in the half filled recycling bin ...

I am going to use it as i have seen much worse on other engines and on a previous page here HA put up a proper exhaust port crack picture - I am busy resanding the block and crack case as we type

Bore looks OK.

But that does look like a crack next to the exhaust port.

Just use it, there are loads of cracked blocks in use, it will go for years.

Hi all again -I have been out and had a good look at the exhaust port casting - I had a scratch with some wet and dry (scratched my head too ) i am not sure if i am honest.

This is why took pics previous experience has taught me not to trust my eyes and mag glass. I will double check and report in tomorrow - cheers both.

In that case it is all looking ok ( i think? ) I have checked the casting and it looks alright and i cant see any cracks - the water pipe was very clear i pushed a welding rod down it from both ends and there it is very clean. i might have to do a bit of repainting now as i have ...

Hi all - i Managed to seperate it ( in a fashion ) started off drilling out the stubborn screw thought i had cleared the casing from the screw edge and gave it a knock with a bit of wood and my trusty wacking stick ( lump hammer)then it came away like this - so much for precision engineering :oops ...
