Re: Anzani Super Single question
Lipscombe and Hessey are no longer in business :( Now looking around for a local marine engineer to help out with the material, if not the making of the gasket. I've had an offer of some copper sheet but not sure if it would be suitable. I don't see why not. Any experience of copper gaskets on ...

Re: Anzani Super Single question
Hugz, I guess you mean the mating surfaces ? Why would that cause it to blow at the water apertures? Surely a bad join would just go at some random point rather than specifically at those openings . I'm not an engineer, by any stretch of the imagination, so I'm not doubting your diagnosis, just ...

Re: Anzani Super Single question
Not sure. It wasn't running for very long but it did get quite hot. I think it was the water in the cylinder that caused the stop but would overheating cause the gasket to fail at the water apertures? If it is overheating that quickly its going to be an arse to track down, being unable to run it in ...

Re: Anzani Super Single question
Well first test in open water was a fail :( Ran fine for about 5 mins. Sped across Falmouth harbour at a rate of knots and a grin on my face but then it died and would not restart. On inspection the gasket had failed at 3 of the waterways. Gasket was just standard gasket paper, as a more substantial ...

Re: Anzani Super Single question
Yay, its a runner. Fired up, ran for 30 seconds or so. Throttled up nice and smooth and stopped nicely on throttling right back. Not going to be 100% convinced its cooling til i get it on a vessel, in open water, and Mrs.Stickery is indicating that i may be too busy for playing with boats this ...

Re: Super Single Pics
If you go to the anzani website it still advertises 'new' 1976 anzanis for £450 but this is not one of those. This one is a '76 but was bought from Empire stores in Bradford. One owner from new. I have the original owners manual and warranty card.

I 've already posted this link in my question thread but just thought I'd post it seperately as well. Not the best pics but this is as I bought it, all I'd done at this stage was wipe the dust off. At £52 I'm happy. Seems cheap for a 5HP outboard ...

Re: Anzani Super Single question
Result! Took the head off, cleaned and dried everything. Waterways were badly blocked and head gasket is damaged slightly but while I was moving it I noticed a trail of water from the inlet port. Took the bottom off the carb and very watery. Blasted carb with WD40,reassembled and it fired and ran ...

Re: Anzani Super Single question
Well, the test firing was a no fire.
Water in the cylinder :( At least i know the water is getting up to the engine. Guessing head gasket, but that is a guess. Looking for any hints/tips before i dismantle anything. Never worked on an outboard before.
Also anybody know if theres a stockpile of ...

Re: Anzani Super Single question
Thanks for the responses. I don't really want to disconnect the water pipes if i don't need to but if i can fire it up in a barrel just to see if it fires then great.

Anzani Super Single question
Hi all,
I have just acquired a Super Single in really good condition but as yet have not started it. I understand about it not being able to pump water around if its aerated but does this completely rule out running it in a tank/wheelie bin ? I'd like to fire it up at home, where i have all my ...
