Saving Old Seagulls

Hi,I'm hoping someone can help me with my Silver Century, which I purchased as a non-runner recently. I took her out for a spin on the back of a dinghy and everything was fine except I have to hold the throttle lever in place otherwise it slips back and either slows or stops.Any suggestions, please?

Eventually worked out where the water inlets are - gave it a good flush again from both directions and water is coming through, not much on low revs but plenty on high revs. Is that usual or is it ok to have a small flow? Thanks for the suggestions - I didn't have time to look at the Seagull today because I've been finishing off the anti-fouling and then it's back to work, so I'm hoping to try again at the weekend - I'll let you know the progress and try to include some pictures, although she's not the prettiest ...
