Well,
I must say I really feel bad for you. Some wanton waif just happened to have a free Seagull and parts to thrust upon your unsuspecting self... What a terrible thing to happen. If your flock is too full for you to handle – I’m sure I can find room to add your intolerable burden to my work ...

Rust-Oleum makes Hammerite paint in both spray and brush on types. It’s a very close match to Seagull colors. It’s available at most hardware or home stores in the US/CA. Check out the web site under hammered finish for a look at colors. www.rustoleum.com

Charles,
I agree on the cork fix. Simple is better and they are inexpensive. I only have one - 102 - as they are hard to find in the U.S. The fuel tank is in wonderful shape. I’m so; grateful to have found the one I own. I won’t tell you what I’d give to have wartime 102 with all the brass ...

Missed that one, but saw a TD for sale today out of Bury-St. Edmonds. Seagulls pop up everywhere. Great town! Had more than one pint at the so called world’s smallest pub there on market day several times! Never found any Seagulls for sale, but bought a couple of great Wheatly Fly Boxes ...

fuel tap threads etc.

I asked about the tank outlet thread type in an old post 2002/2003? I can’t get to pull up. I thought I had printed it out – no luck finding that post from John. If I remember, the reply I got was - the threads on the fuel tap were ¼ British Standard Pipe. I was looking for a plug (in USA) to ...

102?

Just saw a new movie (for me) last night - Waterland. Looks like a old 102 kicked up on a boat during the eel fishing saga part of the movie. Sounds like a Seagull in another part - but no show of the motor.

Movies

P.S. neither Seagull in the movies I listed were equal to the time frame of the movies they were supposed to depict. Both looked like 40's 0r 40+. Should have been Marston's or 102's.

Movie's

Check out -
Father Goose - Old Carry Grant movie - Seagull on his dingy! Lucky Lady with Burt Reynolds - Seagull that gets shot down with machine gun. That's what it takes to kill a Gull! Those are two I know about off the top of my head. I saw another posting somewhere that didn't list these.

Yes,
I can see your point. Since CharlesUK owns a 1930’s Marston Twin. You would think he would be more interested in twin things of that era of engineering. I too find it a little disturbing that he would choose the newer models. I fear his con rod problems with these models may prove to be a ...

Marston

Good Luck,
I’ve been looking for a Marston Seagull on this side of the Atlantic for some time with no luck – yet! Just realize it can take some time to come across the models you are looking to find. It took me three years to find - just a newer short shaft 102 in the USA – forget about a War ...

One good place to look in the U.S. is your local Snap-on Tool dealer. I bought the wrenches and sockets I needed from them at a fair price. Lifetime replacement on the tools etc. Should you need taps and dies check with Maryland Metric's (1-800-638-1830) reasonable prices and great service.

# of Gulls

I have sixteen (16) Seagull's at this writing. A couple are parts motors as the cyl blocks are rusted out. I keep my eye out for replacement parts to bring them back if possible over time. I bought a big box of odd bits and ends for next to nothing at a yard sale that helps keep part costs down - so ...
