Re: Model suitability

I have a 3.4m Avon inflatable with a V keel, and I use a Silver Century (4 blade weedless prop) on the back with no problems. We had it loaded down with 100Kg of dive kit and it never missed a beat. I raised the motor up the drive tube with a jubilee clip to get the depth right as its a low transom ...

Re: Seagull AC2986L

Well, it went for a lot more than I was expecting anyway. It was only winter project that I bought cheap to take apart and put back together again. My other Silver Century powers my boat, so the 102 was just sat in the shed getting dusty.

Re: Seagull AC2986L

Sorry its been a while, but work and decorating have got in the way a bit. Most of the motor is now put back together.
The tank is the last thing to fit. It had a dent in the side of it when I picked it up, and as I'm repainting it it needed to be fixed. I decided to have a go at lead filling the ...

Re: Seagull AC2986L

That's great. I did wonder about the age of the block as it didn't fit in with the rest of the motor.
I'll be cleaning and rebuilding the gearbox and pump housing this week.

Re: Seagull AC2986L

The carb was very clean, with just a small bit of old fuel in the bowl and fuel tap. Split and rebuilt crank cases. The piston and con rod are in pretty good shape.
This is the motor as it stands at the moment.

Re: Seagull AC2986L

The gearbox is ministry stamped. Faint but readable.

Re: Seagull AC2986L

I'm a well seasoned Seagull operator, and a long time lurker on this site :) . My last rebuild was a 1970's Silver Century, so I wanted something a bit older this time.

Seagull AC2986L

This is my AC seagull I bought from eBay a year or so ago. It was worth a punt for £50. Some bits are certainly not right, and there are some period fixes, but it's a good sound motor. Good compression, and it has a good steel bayonet cap tank.
It's now all stripped down awaiting a rebuild.

Re: Leaky Amal Carb on WSPC

Possibly a leaking fuel tap? My carb was leaking until I replaced the tap cork.
