Re: 16th Sat & 17th Sun June 2012 Lake Maraetai at Mangakino

Tinker

So much water, so many outboards & so little time

Might give the Briggs & Stratton a run, or, maybe the longtail.

Distance looks about 20-Nm max by my estimate.

I'll be there. Dead keen,

Never been out on Maraetai before, so, this ticks off another upper Waikato Lake

We need to talk to the others at Mangakino & see who's keen on Whakamaru or whatever lake is next on the list.

Re: Drill Sharpener

I sharpen all mine by hand

Would like a nice sharpening jig. but have not found a really good one in 20 years of looking

Suggest restoring broken drills, as practice for your skills

Re: Where are all the European events and 'enthusiasts'..??

All I think Buzzook has done an admiral job of gathering interest & co-ordinating events. Often this is a thankless task. Underlying it all is a huge latent Ozzy interest. 8) Time for a laugh: It seems old Britannia mistakenly rounded up all the cheeky upstarts, it's best & brightest, &,...

Re: Noise

CharlesP Yes, Agree induction is a bit noisy. Some time ago I came up with this concept plan to duct the inlet. Yet to actually undertake it. * adapt the hood inlet to pvc waste-pipe by the careful use of heat-gunning. * neatly fix the pvc to the hood with screws * join the pvc to lightweight flexi-...

Re: Gearbox oil leaking fast

Bychance I had a gearbox that did a similar thing It turned out to be there was a mark on the propshaft across the bearing journal. It acted somehow like a pump & swapped all the oil for water. My forensic analysis concluded the mark was caused by some damn fool having grabbed the shaft with pli...

Daryl

Thanks for posting the 'Silicon Chip' pages

Up til now, I've been reluctant to buy one of these kits without the supporting article

What's your preferred potting compound? I use epiglass HT9000 but it's a bit expensive.

Re: weakest safe mix

Jerry Here's my current opinion, which no doubt will be fiercely contested & as such I don't recommend it As for fuel, I'd add 10% Avgas, as it's got lots of volatile component. Makes the motor easy to start, especially in cold weather As for oil in the fuel, I'd use whatever is cheap. The speci...
