Gasket on Century

what sort of gasket is there between cylinder and aluminumhead on the century Gull
On some of the very first Centuries in about 1956 there was a steel gasket, which is a nasty thing worth avoiding. After that they were all equipped with a compound crushable copper one. These are still available through John, and they are reasonably priced.
Tight fisted people like me think it's worth annealing the old one and using that, but not many folks are quite as mean!
