Saving Old Seagulls

I've just grabbed one of my engines that's been perched on a rack in my workshop for several years as it's just the right size for an auxiliary that I need for a new boat project I'm working on. The engine number is SJM 2095E5 which I think dates it at '56 '57 vintage.

However, it's also fitted with a Siba recoil starter and I was wondering if that could have been fitted at manufacture or added later.

All thoughts very welcome.

It rather looks like your featherweight has been upgraded by it's previous owner whose upgraded the ignition with a Wipac mk4 CDI, that from the look of the flywheel cover was recycled from a 170.

The lower unit & prop also look a bit newer than this ones date of manufacture, but I'd have to ask a 40 specialist to be certain.

These are all British Seagull parts.
