Multi-seagull power....

I've decided it's silly season. Between me and some chums we have 7 seagulls of various models.

The plan is to clamp a board across the transom of a suitable boat, hang all 7 engines and head off for a load and smoky pootle!
Should we survive the experience I'll post a video.

Cheers,
Bernie

well... I tried this with 4 engines in the past ...
much smoke and merriment in trying to start them all

the trick is to align the tillers, so all pushing vaguely in the same direction ...and absolutely NO improvement in speed

you'll need a couple of very chunky chaps right in the bows to counteract the stern weight ...sinking a distinct possibility
a few fathoms of light line and a buoy for retrieval... just in case ?

Excellent! Well, I was thinking of maybe clamping a scaffold board across the transom of two boats - then we'd have a catamaran

Yes, Aligning the tillers is going to be interesting !

Bernie

Why not fix all but the one with the highest thrust in the straight ahead position & steer with Mr powerful!

That may be a much more practical idea...!

I'm wondering if this may turn out to be the aquatic equivalent of the 'Spruce Goose'

My apologies Bernie 4 Century plus with 13 inch hydrofan props one on each corner & you could have vertical take off. Brilliant

Excellent! Have you got any more info about the race? Couldn't find much at https://foweyharbour.co.uk/events-calen ... gull-race/
I used to stay at the camp site at Bodinnick regularly and put my boat out on their pontoon to pootle about Fowey and Polruan.
Loved watching the clay boats being nudged and bumped into position for loading!

I'm in Norfolk now so a bit of a hike but sounds like it might be worth a trip for some Seagull fun!

Cheers,
Bernie

Vid will tell how close you get.

Very interested if you can pull that off by the way.
