Hi…

i have a Seagull 102 (manufactured ~ 1958-59, Silver flywheel, Serial number: TC62513) which came with the wrong carburetor. I don’t
have 102 parts manual and I need to get the right carb, cable & fittings, and washer that goes under the dome nut. My original Villiers coil is toast and I am trying to replace the whole ignition system with a newer style if possible.

1) Can any one tell me what the parts number and/ descriptions for the correct carb, cable, and washer? I am trying to source those parts now. I will be ordering a parts list from John shortly but I would like to get started now.

2) I have a copy of the BS 59 page service manual which consists of many service sheets, one of which depicts the SEAGULL-AMAL TWO-JET CARBURETOR. Might this be the correct carb?

3) That same service manual has a description and parts diagram of the MARK I (VILLIERS) IGNITION ASSEMBLY which looks like mine. Would this be correct?

4) Was there a service manual specific to the 102?

Here is what it looks like. What is the best way to safely remove some corrosion found on the magneto base plat and the flywheel?

I got this from a guy who had installed a completely unrelated carburetor. After doing some research, I discovered that it arrived with L&L Manufacturing S1 carb, originally supplied to Harley Davidson for their Hummer early ‘50s vintage bike. It turned out that some Harley fans were very interested in getting this carb and I ended up selling it for quite a bit more than I originally paid for the engine.

Yes the ignition is a Villiers Mark 1 (MK1).

M1269 Washer For Dome Nut is the part number and description.

An Amal 2 Jet Carb as per your service manual was originally fitted, part number is 46N.

The Amal 46N at a 10:1 fuel:oil ratio was superseded by the Amal 416 which ran at 25:1. Both are available used. Depending on condition and plans for the motor either would be acceptable for use. If bushings are worn a heavier mix might help seal the shafts while running. The 46N can also be converted to 25:1 by changing a jet which John at SOS can supply.

Throttle cable part number for the 46N is S557.

Not aware that there was a specific service manual for the 102, given similarities across the BS model range.
