New to me.

What an interesting life this Old Bird has had.

Has compression spark and blows smoke from block split. Internally mostly trashed. Bushes and big end. Something loose under flywheel.

Generally dry as a wooden God.

Pics for you.

Looks quite complete and surprisingly clean, albeit sounds as if a bit worse for wear

When you say smoke comes out of the block split, do you mean it runs?! Amazing if so.

Is that some sort of shield around the carb air intake? Can’t quite tell in the photo.

I haven’t noticed these two screws before, I have an AD that I have neglected to address for many years so maybe they’re standard?

Hi Andrew

The two screws are not standard. The top screw should be lubrication nipple and the bottom screw should not be there at all.

There was excess cooling under most conditions so the hole is a water pump relief.

See below...

Yes there is a cover on the carb

I have other barrels. I will adapt one for the plugs and should be ok.

Notice the thumb screws?

Donor Block.

I can make it look the part after some dremmel work and the plugs from the old block.

Yes the piston will come out.

Just time is all.

Piston rod cut? Sometimes the only way!

Looks like piston is stuck in there pretty good. Hopefully a bit of soaking and some elbow grease get it out. Can be a tricky job on the single piece 102 cylinders!

Why not mention your previous post "https://www.saving-old-seagulls.co.uk/p ... php?t=6609"

Yes I was thinking about that Charles.

If piston is high enough in the cylinder that it covers all the ports, a grease nipple could do the job of moving the piston the all important first few mm.

Ended up scoring another barrel. Same casting so bonus there.

Nothing comes cheap anymore when wanting "just Right"...

The rest of the motor is just clean and assemble really.

About time to do stuff with this. I have been busy on it for 12 hours. Power head ready for assy.

Going to keep patina with old school coating...interesting as all by hand and relaxing?

Soon.
