Hi all

The original start post is way back now.

There was discussion as to cleaning up an old tank. That is going to happen.

There was discussion as to changing out of the exhaust tube for something better.

I now have two options, one really bright and one not so much. I will just match the torque tube brightness.

Lots of dust but still nice underneath I am sure. I think Cello fur is the main fluffy coating.

Tank looks the part now.

Very careful washing the years of oil residue from it and then adhesion promoter followed by satin clear.

I chose the brightest of choices of exhaust tubes at hand.

From a distance matches the patina of torque tube nicely.

Just three nuts to do this........how cool it is in just lifting the lot in one hit.

A bit of a scrub and attention to torque tube is required.

During this job I noticed that the transom bracket has a problem....

Was not expecting that but something else to scrounge through my many bits......I am sure to find forgotten but precious things.

Like the way you have preserved the tank. I was thinking of doing the same with my very original HSD. Just giving the tank a wash and a couple of thin coats of lacquer.
Nice original engine.

You can see the original bracket damage on the right.

You can also see that completely different beast to one I found?

Never really had them in my face side by side ever. Anyone chip in as to details aye?

Hmm there are other brackets.....should have looked closer when fighting off red backs etc.

No problem just another hunt. I am sure something will be dug out....I do have a lot to choose more wisely :oops:

Looks the part to untrained eyes though.

I decided that boxes of unsorted bits probably a mission as it is hot and humid as.

Decided to investigate Shed#2 as it has a decent back rack.

BINGO in that TD75263 has exact and in good condition.

OK not much today as 37deg under the roofing.

The clutch lever spring was in 3 pieces and everything else was rusted away so while gathering yesterday made things better. Soak overnight for surface rust and presto.

May as well point out to those not familiar with clutch levers......The exhaust ring flat goes here.

Moving down to the prop which was a new one in the crate. While new it was not an even cast as to blade s side to side. I took it in for some rectification. It is now balanced and uniform. The cupping has been evened out (That was the problem).

I was warned that it may break whist massaging (By Tiffany).

Turned out that the material was excellent quality and mix. Absolutely worked a treat.

The pitch originally average 6" between the two blades. I said make an even 6".

6" has always hung well for me aye.
