The two brackets you have are basically the same however it should not be painted.

It’s a special gearbox grease (00/000) for open and closed gearboxes in industrial use. It’s thin but thicker than the EP140. The EP140 was leaking not to less, so I think when oil comes out water will come in. And it’s not an engine for daily use, maybe a some few hours a year or as a exhibit. Shouldn’t be so worse I think. But I’ll keep it in mind.

The real difference is at the mounting of the drive shaft tube. One of them has a plate for securing the engine when it’s lowered. The other one only has a rusty formed plate. Maybe I should take some more pictures?

Sadly I had not so much time for the seagull the last months. But in the last weeks i finished the bracket. Maybe it’s not the correct one, but it’s not broken like the two aluminium ones I found. And maybe i‘ll repair one of the older ones in the future by welding and so on. The engine isn’t finished yet, but i‘ll give you an update as soon as possible.

Repeat. Do not put grease in the gearbox. Use correct 140 grade oil which will form an emulisfied gloop and will flow around the gears. Grease will not emulsify with the water and you will not have any decent lubrication. A bit of leaking oil from the gearbox is a good thing.

Leaking oil or grease are a symptom of worn bearings or prop shaft.

After the sun came out again I decided that the seagull will be a piece of scenery for the rest of first. So it’s equal if it’s leaking or not or if the grease could be it’s end.

But there will be a mounting made of a thick piece old, tropical wood and some more parts...

Had a first test last weekend. It’s not ready yet, but I think it’s on a good way anyway.
