shortning the leg on a centry

hi i wish to custermise my seagull to fit to my boat
from a long sharft to a short shaft.
is there any drawbacks from doing this.????????
i am getting a new coil for it
i know i will have to get a new silencer tub so i thought stainless
can i use a drive sharft from anouther seagull
make a new clucth rod, water pipe and shaft a tube

is it clutched or direct drive

I have done this with a few but short to long . There is usually a dead one knocking about for the bits you need . Odd thing I've noticed is the variation in drive shaft lengths depending on year and model

I think there is an ebay Seagull breaker just up the road from you, it might be worth trying to get in contact with him, he might have the bits you need.
