The one that sold a couple of weeks ago was 90% of an OP, whereas this one is only about 60% without knowing the ignition number.

That’s the one from a couple of weeks ago, looks like a real dusty barn find and pretty complete apart from the tank and tap, it’s amazing how they still pop up.

Its got the wrong cylinder also, and I think its got a SD tiller, looking at the grip. Also lacking the chrome trumpet. Tidy though.

Brass tank, I suspect. And a modern decal. What's going on with those straps? One of them appears to have a cutout?

Expensive!

A fair bit of 102 on this motor methinks - propellor, petrol tank, petrol cap, intake shroud (my SD's had the brass 'trumpet') etc? Crankcase to leg studs look a bit dodgy - too long with no shallow dome on ends (cut down bolts?)

Try fuel tank, fuel cap, petrol tap, fuel tank straps, fuel tank support bracket, fuel tank bracket bolts, carb, air intake, cylinder, throttle lever, tiller arm & propeller.

Without the JM number we can't be sure it's the original ignition & I'd also like to see the drive shaft.

The only parts we can be sure are prewar, are the crankcase, water pump housing & the transom bracket.

What have I missed?

OOOPS!

British Seagull on the plug cap rather gives the game away, can't see the baseplate fitting/connector as they were different.

This one is new to me & the register, & he's done quite a nice job, I'm not comfortable with tearing some unknown vendors Seagull to bits.

Its in the public domain and at a high price. Why cant we discuss it? We are not ripping it to bits, just highlighting what is right and wrong.

Quite right Oyster - I prefer to think that the people on the selling side are acting in all innocence (?), but potential buyers (at high value) should be aware that all is not as it seems.

Yes, It’s known that this forum is used as a reference point sometimes, so in my view promoting “correctness” is the right thing to do. Particularly on these more rare engines.

How disappointing.

Imagine if you bought this and later find "She Aint What She Used To Be" at some club or vintage meet?

A lot of AU Pesos!

I agree with all above observations.
