With the needle clipped into one of the center grooves the series 102 motor would not fire.

I poured some petrol into the fuel bowl, the motor fired first time.

Next I pushed the needle down and off the grooves in it, the engine now works.

Do i have the correct float level when the petrol reaches the lower threads on the screw in cap?

Hi Imp,

petrol level is too high as you describe it - seems like you have another problem. Are both jets completely clear, and is the filter and banjo bolt recess also clean?
If the engine was cold, you will have richened the fuel mixture and compensated for the lack of choke by having the high fuel level.

The main or rich jet was blocked, the banjo filter was clean, I have blown out the blocked jet and reset the float needle to the center of the three possible postions.

I assume we are good to go no?

Yes, it took a few pulls on the starter line, then it was running and staying on idle very nicely.
