Would the second one be a '53 Forty FVP?
Hugo.

The first is an early anzani super single Mk 1 dated between 48 & april 1951 circa 4hp.
The second is an early British Seagull this is the other Charles's area of expertease, he will give you chapter & verse.

Just noticed this is what the seller says about the first one:-
"News Flash I have just found out that the out board is either a Ferrier 120cc or Cormorant. Both were related and made in Whitstable Kent from the early 50s. I'm told that this particular engine is of special interest to collectors of vintage outboards"
Any truth in this?

Ask him if it's got holes in the low pressure side of the prop anzani super singles had sucked water cooling.

Don't recognise EVR - but those letters can indeed be confused with FVP if the stamping is a bit 'Friday afternoon'.
The tank is right, the tiller arm was right on the later FVPs, and for the life of me I can't see the clenchbolt arrangement that should be there holfing the tube to the crankcase and the transom bracket lug just below it. Many were replaced as the ring busted. The magneto base plate is right, and that rather nice prop is definitely the one.
As to the 'Olympic' bit, well best to refer you to :

I retrieved that advert from a past Seagull worker. The factory attempted to keep an eye on copies...

That first one most certainly is not an Anzani Super Single. We had one from 1948 until 1960. The only similarity is the round tank. Sorry to be wet blanket....unless I'm looking at the wrong pic...

We mustn't turn this into a 'lets tease the Australians' thread. If that happened someone would probably mention Rugby...

Crikey... they might even mention the 5 - ZERO Ashes debacle. Now we couldn't risk that being mentioned. <grin>.
