Shaft Lengths

What's the difference in the shaft length of a 40 Featherweight standard and a 40 Plus long shaft? I obtained a nice Featherweight yesterday in a trade and I was surprised at how short it is: 2 1/2" shorter than my Merc 3.3 so-called short shaft!
I'm thinking of pairing the Featherweight up with a classic 9'-12' wooden skiff to show off at some of our local on-the-water boat shows. Any suggestions? TIA,
