When spraying black onto brass tanks do folks use a special primer such as the Hammerite "special metals primer"?

I generally use a self etching primer on brass or aluminium.You can get aerosol cans of it from Halfords, it is called U-POL,or there are a couple of similar products obtainable from www.frost.co.uk.
The Hammerite Special Metals Primer is only obtainable in a brush - on version as far as I know,it seems to be water based but could probably be sprayed with the right equipment.
