Saving Old Seagulls

I feel stupid asking this really: I bought some corks but the holes are so small that I can't get them on to the tap shaft. Have I got the wrong ones or am I missing something? ( they have been soaked)

No and yes.
The tap with the cork on comes apart, look at the on/off button, it has i nipple in the middle, use a punch and knock it through, put the new cork on and tap it back together.

Here's how Stelios does it. (haven't heard from him in a while)

I do pretty much the same thing. Start off with some fine brass mesh sheet cut to size and form the cylindrical shape around something long and round. Crimp one end (ideally soldered too) then solder into place.
