Hi all,
In the process of stripping down my silver century plus but the only problem is the wipac plate is seized on. I have removed the locating screw with no luck. Then I removed the points and coil. and heated the base with still no luck.
Any ideas?

Jacob

Rotate the base plate backwards & forwards like a steering wheel, little by little, till it moves freely, then it will come off, it's aluminium oxide holding it fast.

Heat and soak with wd40. Eventually the corrosion will break free enough for you to rotate the baseplate.
I did say it might be stuck pretty good. A lot of the time they can be a right sod

Keep going with it but don't go too heavy handed with the heat.

you lot have got it ALL wrong....
Just get a BIGGER hammer and give it a good wack, once it is broken it will be easy to get off! That's how most people seem to work on Seagulls!!
