Swapping carbs

I have a silver seagull with an Amal 416 carb which is is gubbed(threads on carb body) I'm wondering if I could replace the 416 with a villiers from another silver century.. probably a silly question

Post a picture of your problem, are you sure it's a 416?
The serial number will give us a clear picture of what you should have.

The problem is the threads where the banjo bolt goes into, and the float part is damaged too, it's all would need replaced as one.

It sounds like you have the Amal twin jet 46N carb fitted to yours, give John Williams a call he might have a carb body in stock.

John offers an exchange carb body I believe, with repaired threads.

Does anyone know the correct size for the fibre washers the Amal carb requires thank u

You could re-use your old fibre washers.
Nothing wrong with that in my book.

The problem with my fibre washers are that they aren't fibre, there copper which isn't good at all.
Managed to buy 2 sets for £5 delivered
