Bronze Transom Bracket

Acquired a bronze bracket. I'm rather fascinated by it. It appears to come from a different molding from the ally norm. Very similar but thicker. The thumb screws are bronze. The G clamps are bronze whereas I was expecting the brass. Has Patent E1326-9B. The bolts holding the G clamps are iron. Original? Bronze too weak? What is the age range these came out? The quality of finish is very much sand cast so wont polish up which is disappointing.

Boyd, you mentioned yours has the bronze stay. Can you check if yours has the threaded large or small slotted studs holding it to the sides please.

Bruce, I recall you have one... any info?

Yes Huggy.....Below is pic.

Transom clamping round thingies are not anything Gull so a ring in......The tilt stay is aluminium.....the torque tube clamp outer is aluminium. The tilt "Tang" is bronze.

The torque tube lock is bronze......the pin is plated steel.

It was in a box of stuff.......I have no idea if it was on any motor assembly purchase............I used to just "Buy Stuff" years ago.

Yep, definitely closerer HA! Nice brass thrust block on yours and spare dingle dangle on chain. Late forties to mid fifties? Wonder if there are any torque clamps in brass about? Also think it should only have one stay notch but could be wong. Ah so!

Do you like the leaf under my bracket? It is an exotic jungle leaf from the monstera deliciosa. Measures up to a meter long. Thinking of making a stencils out of some and doing a cameo hippy design for my van :P
