I can understand that, but over here they don't seem to have the best reputation to start with and are more common.
I'm about to my limit with 35 motors, with only a handful of Seagulls, I would have liked a small Perkins, but they always seem to have dead coils.

Well

So much for bad coils on Perkins'... This one has beautiful strong spark on both cylinders, and about 100pso on both as well. Keep in mind I haven't done anything to it apart from spray some wd40 down the bore and clean some of the dirt off.

Recoil starter is now operating like new.

Space is also limited within residential areas of most cities in Australia. Double garages are becoming less and less common, and tighter restrictions on gardens sheds (council inspection and approvals of concrete slabs and permits for anything over 10 square meter in Victoria) are making life all the more difficult.

Not saying have the same space issues as many in the UK, but it's tough here also for any collector unless one lives in the lesser populated or regional areas.

As for collections and for that matter restorations, each to their I reckon. There is no right or wrong, good or bad, it's all up to the individual to proceed how he or she feels.

S

Wouldn't it be nice if all gulls could be made to look that good!

BP,
Great that you are putting the effort in to the Perkins. It doesn't matter what motor you have, as its up to the individual .
Waiting to see some better photos.
Love your enthusiasm.
