General Chandlery

I remember seeing a lamp in an advert in an old magazine when I saw this lamp on Ebay AU.

Yes I collect old marine books and magazines as well Sigh.

It had a fair amount of interest so my winning it was a heart stopper last 5 seconds. Quite expensive but very satisfying all the same. I wonder if it was a chandlery interest or just the Tilly collecting interest that got 14 bids up to the last heart stopping second.........

Origin Tilly UK. Branded locally and sold as per pics.

Staterooms of larger yachts and cruisers of the time. The shroud and flue stopped a bulkhead/under deck from being damaged.

Very pleased with it and will be in my entrance hall (Hanging) when renovations are completed.

Can't beat a tilley lamp. Great for camping. Lasts forever on a half a pint of parafin. Entertaining to light sometimes..

Just get them really warm with meths in the clip on mantle warmer and slowly turn on the fuel, but stand back just in case ....
Still use an old tilly for my beach fishing and night sessions on the riverbank, great bit of kit thats far better than my coleman twin mantle petrol lamp.

I agree that they are somewhat "Not For The Bush" a couple of close calls after an interesting moment or two aye.

Thing is that when sorting Ya Stuff all sorts come out and Bang ............you must collect because more than the "3 Of" Rule.

I have found interesting and old kerosene/parafin convection heaters as well...........a very early Beatrice is marked for very special care later.

Hurricane lamps as well.

Some of these are rather interesting.
