Not normally my era the 60's as far as collecting, but this one is a little odd and cute, plus it's not all that common by the looks of things.
I have already fixed the recoil, it's wire so no need to worry about replacing that any time soon, fuel smells like turps and it has good compression and spark.

Looks interesting! It look quite a bit bigger than the 3hp Warren Jet. what Hp is it? About 5Hp??
What brand is it?
Is the impeller the same orientation as a stick blender? Sucking in the small holes and blowing out above.

Yes very nice, a good score!
It is a Cary jet by Garelli (Italian company). They were produced in the 60's (between 1960 and 1968. Engine cowl is usually the same light blue as lower unit.

See video for some more info etc...

Edit - it produces 4hp with an aircooled powerhead and water cooled exhaust and was sold by Cary enterprises, New York, USA.

Cheers

Yes, I looked it up before I got it.

Same motor deferment owner, My cowling is either a replacement or has been remade, as it has no holes to access fuel tap and choke.
I will get it running and worry about the restoration later.

It was cool to start with until.

The only part that had rusted, all the other parts are aluminium or stainless steel, even the lower jet drive casting, the part with the strainer is solid brass.

The drive tube has already been replaced, now giving the over engineered carb a good clean before another test run.

The Jet drive is having a make over, slow progress, as its to cold in the shed and not ideal for painting, so it all happening on the kitchen table, what HID don't know won't hurt, other than the smell of paint which is hard to hide.
It has been painted the wrong colours sometime in the past, but enough colour is under the paint to work it out the right colours, still a long way to go though.

Hi Keith,

It seems some of your pics have gone MIA. Any idea what's going on?

Regards,

I clean up the amount of pictures I post on this site every now and then, still on my computer though, I will post some more pictures when the Garelli Jet drive is fully painted, the decals are going to be the main problem, I have done the art work, making them right is going to be the problem.
I did manage to get more detailed pictures and manual of the other known Jet drive from the owner in the USA to help with the restoration, but still have parts to make and paint.
Will be continued.
