Saving Old Seagulls

So, I just bought this engine..for a total of 10€. An older man called me and said he had an old "british seagull" laying aound that his grandfather gave him when he was a kid (the man was ~65 y.o).
The second I stepped in to the garage I knew it wasn't a Seagull. I hadn't seen an Anzani live before, but I knew what it was. The engine is missing the mixer and the banana part of the engine shroud. Otherwise it seems complete. Can't complain for that price!
The engine was seized but after dripping some oil into the cylinder I got it freed up.

Serial number is M 2093, it has the red ID plate. Anyone take a guess about the aproximate age of the engine?

I find it kind of interesting that many people will refer to a vintage outboard as a Seagull. I'm in Australia and have a Gold Cheetah, Waterboy and Britannia that were all advertised that way.

Anyway, great score (find) on the Anzani Minor. I need one for my collection also.

I'm sorry to say yours is missing all of the really hard to find parts, top cover, inlet manifold & the fuel mixer/carb equivalent, not easy bits to find even in the land of it's birth!

Yours is very early 1950's at a guess 50 to 51.

Yeah, it seems to be quite a common mistake, for some reason.

Figured so. But for that price I thought it would be better to just save it. Plus, it's always nice to have a real challenge!

Try the man you got it from, the chances are, he removed the cover when he was trying to fix the carb problem, it might still be where he left it, in a safe place.

The cover is the most common bit to be missing.

Did you end you finding any of the missing parts?
