Saving Old Seagulls

Not for my 40 minus but for a long shaft
I can see how this will be clamped to the shaft
but and I have searched for this info
On the transom clamp it has 2 unequal sides, the larger one acts as a stop against the base of the engine to stop it from turning 360
attaching a Collar above the transom clamp will allow me to raise the prop height but it will mean that there is nothing to act as a stop
unless I have got it wrong

No, only some have the step in the top of the drive tube, I think the step was a later addition, but you will find it hard turning 360, other than if you remove the exhaust.
I have seen a seagull transom that was designed to turn 360 though.

Another safety aspect is a 102 with carb bowl mounted forward hitting a transom clamp......turning to starboard is safely restricted.......fuel bowl to the rear......then you can do "donuts" both ways aye.

Shows off Amal markings as well.

Then there is rotating everything at your elbow.................would be a work safe nightmare as it stands.

I think more common sense was a genetic thing back then.

Do not even go as far as documenting "Hot Things" as a JSR or job hazard item...........good grief.
