Same resistance reading between points when open a. A Short?

Hi, I am not getting a spark. Wipac MK2 on a Forty Plus FP 1228 code, rest of code indecipherable. Plug and Points set at 20thou. Brand new plug lead and cap. Magnets seem strong. Getting correct resistance readings for the coils. HT and LT. Am I getting a short somehow from the points to the baseplate. How can I check this.Do I take off flywheel and take a closer look at how the points are fitted. The question is have I missed something obvious before I do this?
Suggestions welcome.

Did you clean the points?

Remove points from circuit.
Try again the coil.
Wipac coil enclosure contains condenser.
Check again over points. If points open then a should be a zero. If not then point assembly needs checking when pulled apart. Note insulating do dads along the way.
Metholated helps and try again.

Hello Mr. novice here again. Flywheel removed exactly as per FAQ.
Multi meter setting all at 2000.
Before removing the points from the circuit I took the following readings:
a. Probes of Multi Meter held together = 001/002 flashing between figures.
b. Points to backplate (closed) = 002.
c. Points to backplate (open). I put a piece of plastic between points = 005.
d. HT lead (at screw terminal) to backplate = 003.
1. Removed points from circuit as suggested (undid the screw holding the wire and bent the wire away); then took reading from HT terminal (where the screw goes in) to the baseplate, reading=003/004 flashing. I have zero idea what this means. Is it good or bad?
Now in process of dismantling points and cleaning etc. Do you know where the insulation of the points should be?
Put it all back together and hey-presto she has started. Thank you for your help. I was beginning to doubt her. Amazing.

often the way with points.
you think they're clean but..... you look again and hey presto. sometimes more obvious than you think.
(i tend to use a magnifying glass these days to double check EVERYTHING when working on something as small as points etc.)
