Saving Old Seagulls

Just a quick intro

I have recently acquired a lovely forty plus as a back up engine on my 4m searider. Main power is a 15hp mercury. Not exactly a speed machine but it keeps me happy.

I purchased it locally (via ebay) from a fine chap who is a retired marine engineer and now looks after the TS Royalist ( which retires shortly). It runs as sweet as a seagull can

I sold a perfectly good 4hp Yamaha with gears to make way

Why? Well why not? I also drive a 25 years old Land Rover 110 ( and a VW Up! so I know at last one car will start ) so it more of a mental condition than a logical train of thought!

I have given the little beast a tarting up with a bit of paint here or there. Got some spares from SOS

Hope to do some 'speed trials' when this band of rain has cleared

Also greetings from Pembrokeshire - my cross to bear is LLS 1053F4 - it runs reluctantly, wont pass water ( which I will cure) and will never become a beauty queen, (I'll have to become accustomed to the tatty style)

i've also grown accustomed to the "tatty look" ?

as long as it runs and functions well for the purpose it was intended, the aesthetics can be sorted later.

You mention your little 40. Is it an FV,FVP or LS, or is it a later one?

Its year of manufacture was september 1976, one month older than me.... l have to check and come back to you.

Thats ok. I didn't know whether you meant the Little Model Forty from the 1950s, or wheter it was just a description of your little (ie small) 40.
Use it and enjoy it.
