Any British Columbian British Seagullers out there?

I have a problem. I've looked and looked and searched and researched, but nary a place in BC can I find that sells NGK AB-6 or Champion D16 spark plugs. I tried the Napa site, C-tire, Walmart, and even a couple snowmobile and ATV dealers websites. Google is no help. It just sends me to various forums and such when I search for said plugs. It is really getting annoying. Particularly since this afternoon when the ceramic insulator came blasting off the plug body while the engine was running.

If there is anyone who knows where I can find a plug in BC that will fit a 'Gull, I'd be delighted to know.

Don't know if this will help but AB-6 is also used as a replacement plug for Harley Knucklehead, and Flathead motors thats the 1930 to 1949 models.

Check the local Harley outlets.

There are shops in EU that could send you spark plugs if everything else fail.

We can get both NGK A6 and Champion D16 (now Champion 516) at Can Tire over this side of the country. Also check the auto supply stores, I got a decent deal on 10 NGK B6S which are for 50s-60s OMC motors in place of Champion J6J or J6C, at Car Quest, less than $3.00 ea by the 10.

It seems a variety of plugs in Seagulls all seem to work fine. Just about any 18mm plug with the same threaded length going into the head should be fine.

A few of mine came with Bosch plugs, I will check them later and give you some Bosch numbers if that helps. Any of them should be easily available on Fleabay, I could get you the right ones here if you want but postage being what it is in this country, it could be kind of expensive.

Correct me if I am wrong but any non resistance spark plug with similar temperature should do. No6 on AB6 or A6 is the indication of the temperature. There should be an inequivalent to get.

THANK you! So, the NGK A6, B6s, and AB6 are all fine for a Gull? Same with the Champion D16, (or rather 516) and J6J or J6C? They all work fine? I've read about some Bosch fitting too, (the M10 AC I believe.) I'll ask C-tire again about the Champion 516 as opposed to the D16. I probably confused the kid at the counter.

My biggest problem is that I have to ask others to do the buying for me; and get them to send the stuff by random boater to me at Butedale. (80 miles from town by boat and I don't have an ocean ready boat.) And with an average day in Douglas Channel being 20 knot winds and 4 foot breaking swells, an ocean ready boat is a MUST. So while I can make calls to civilization using Googlephone, I can't actually go and pick anything up, and have to make absolutely certain that what is being delivered to me is precisely what I need. (Or I'm back to square one.)

Update edit! With my new info, I found that C-Tire has the NGK A6, and Champion 516. Woohoo! And NAPA has the Champion too. Double woohoo! Looks like I'll be getting the champions. since it closer for my buddy to pick at NAPA up than going to C-Tire. Unless the NGK are vastly superior, then I'll cajole him into taking a run out to C-Tire. Should I? I've read that the NGK are far more durable than the Champion. True?

My first choice would be NGK, but a lot of my Seagulls have Champions, as far as I know the NGK A6 is a suitable plug for Seagulls.

I definitely prefer NGK for the Johnson/Evinrude motors, it may not matter much for Seagulls. No,the NGK B6S a 14 mm plug is for my old 50s -70s OMC ( Johnson/Evinrude) motors, it is the crossover from Champion J6J or,J6C which is a later number.

Well plenty of opportunity for screw ups if you have to deal with the kids that work at Can Tire!

LOL! So true! Remember the day when people who actually knew what they were talking about used to work in the Auto Parts department? Long gone; replaced by minimum wager's.

Anyhoo, ordered 3 Champion 516's from NAPA. What a price difference though. 1 NGK A6 is $12.99 from C-Tire, and 1 Champion 516 is $3.99 at C-Tire. Also $3.99 at NAPA. Almost scary the price difference! Yet the probable difference in quality that the price difference indicates almost makes me want to pay the extra 9 bucks each for the NGK. (Almost; but not quite.)
