Nice to see all the original bits. Is that bracket original? I've never seen one so can't comment on that. Best of luck.

That's one of the three original brackets known to still survive, if I had the room Mark I would be very tempted, one of the very best examples.

And I was wondering whether this is the original bracket or not!

Hi Stelios_Rjk the bracket on the engine is an original bracket for the military, As Charles said this is one of the three. I hope this helps you.

I imagine those brackets were cobbled together from angle iron in various places. The pictures off the SOS main site show a slightly different version. The drawing is more like Marks.

Mark, can you post some close ups of the bracket so we have them before you sell it? I have a skeletal bracket for my SD, but it's good to see this version finally.

I would suggest the photo's you've posted Adrian are of a cobbled together one, that's been modified to fit a wider gunnel, When Charles & I were researching I looked at 2 of the 3 known ones, both were type "B" & showed signs of very professional manufacture, bending angle iron through 180 degrees with less than a 2" radius without deforming it, is not a job for a blacksmith.
I don't know the weight but maybe Mark will weigh his.

I don't remember when the skeletal first came into existance, but I believe it was post war.

Yes not a problem with pictures of the bracket. As for the picture of johns bracket type B is right but with out me getting my paper work out i think mine is a type C. if you didnt know they did this type bracket from type A to D with a slight difference. Hope this answers your question on how many type of military brackets.
