There's obviously a diesel range of Seagulls that my extensive researh has hitherto failed to uncover. Perhaps this was an April 1st posting!

Back when? Oh you mean last week!

I have in mind a whole range of Seagull memorabilia. Perhaps Seagull 'fridge magnets, teddy bears, lingerie, cat food bowls...

You have to laugh.

Good Heavens no. Of course not.

But I am thinking of having my own made.

This version will be for petrol; 2 stroke mixture even - cunning marketing, eh? It'll have the sailorman, the white bird, the Marston gold bird, the little girl holding the forty on the four sides, and a colour picture of Princess Diana together with the royal warrant on the top.

It'll go nicely with my soon to be released range of 'British Seagull' whimsical pottery animals...

Time for my medication. I'll be spending the day rigging my boat, trying to remember what each string does and who should pull it, and getting the spinnaker rigged in such a fashion that when she's launched in anger tomorrow she'll fly rather than present all the rest of the fleet with a tangled spectacle for them to chuckle at over the post-race pint.

Yesterday was spent on a trip round the islands in Poole Harbour, no breeze, so powered by my little Mariner (Yes yes I know...) This little heap has just had a main bearing and oil seal; I really needed a trip to build confidence.

The day before was my Kingfisher's first trip. Prior to this I'd always regarded QB motors as being 'not really Seagulls' what with all this clever combustion and scavenging, electronic ignition and the rest. I have to say I'm partially converted, at least. What a very quiet and smooth running motor she is!

She accelerated beautifull, despite being a little low in the water. I do appear to have a fuel issue - so today she'll get another clean and inspect of the filters, and if I have time I'll pull the fuel pump apart. Great fun. Oh - and no visible smoke at all. Running at 25:1 on Seagull 2 stroke oil she seems very clean.

Have a great weekend, everyone.
