Stainless silencer tube

I considered making a new sillencer tube for my Century Plus of stainless. After contacting a metal supplier in the Vancouver area, I was told that the diameter is a very odd size making it impractical to make one. Does anyone know of a possible source?

Click on his name for the link to email. He may be a little slow to reply since I don't think it's his primary email address.
I bought a polished stainless exhaust tube for a 40+ from him a while back. As I recall, he had some for featherweights and centuries and definitely had a source for the unpolished stainless steel.

In fact check that link out anyway for a look at this guy's Seagullcolour schemes. The first pic - of him spoon feeding oil to two of his colourful flock - is just possibly the most bizarre Seagull related photo I've ever seen.
As I write that I realise some of you will provide something even more strange!

Thanks for the suggestion.
I had quite a chuckle when I saw the top photo of him spoon feeding Tonic to the flock.

:D
I did email him enquiring about the availability of a stainless tube or finished stainless silencer tube and will see what happens.

Stainless steel being a harder metal than brass & aluminium might well cause your Seagull to ring louder than it's non upgraded brothers.
Perhaps you should try fitting a 102 water into exhaust fitting , connected to the telltale they certainly took the ting from the 102.
Or would a larger diameter thin walled stainless tube insulated by fibreglass remove more ting.
Stainless exhausts.

I have come across one Century with a home made S/S exhaust. It weighed a ton! It was thick wall tube that the guy machined down.
Really cannot see the point, the ali pipes on later ones are available, and older brass ones can be rechromed?
I wondered about the Multicoloured Seagulls on the link. Very odd!
Takes all sorts as they say!

That’s a point I’d not thought of John – the added weight of stainless even if machined to a thin wall. The reason I’d like to change the existing one on my ’73 is that it appears to be made of aluminum. Certainly it looks fine right now after an hour on a buffing wheel using jeweler’s rouge, but unfortunately it will quickly loose its shine once in salt water.
I agree about the paint jobs on the link, although I suppose to each his own, I give him credit for a very original photo.

Hi i have made some stainless exhaust tubes for my 40s.They originally started life as a "sleeve" for the legs of a butchers block stand. They fit perfectly over a aluminium original and all i had to do was cut them to length. You are right Charles about the noise,my brother fitted one to his without the original aluminium one inside, even in water its really really loud, but it looka completely original.
