Hello all.
Recently bought a SD seagull, serial SD.7921.L3 from an auction, but missing a few parts !
Fuel tank, brass throttle lever, brass tiller and Amal carb all correct to the wartime period.
Does any one have these sitting in a box some where ?
Many thanks

most of us are looking for long brass throttle lever. tiller arm would be steel.
try "preview" to see if you have correctly uploaded a picture. Normal twin jet amal carb is OK , just remove intake and buy a brass intake tube off John.
See "buy british seagull spares".

- brass tube intake . More fun starting than with a sliding choke

Excellent, how about some pictures of your SD? Possibly the best seagull to have, as they are collectable, but most parts can be found eventually.
Fuel tank should be steel, and they tend to be fairly hard to find, as rust eventually gets them. There are some brass tanks around that had the bayonet filler cap fitted. Tillers are steel, throttle levers turn up, it's a question of keeping your eyes open. I find half the fun is hunting for parts. I've previously bought a 40 plus just because it had a SD throttle lever I was desperate for..
Amal carbs are usually around on Ebay, but watch out for threads in the carb body that corrode and render the carb useless. SOS do a refurbished carb body by exchange.

Best bracket you'll probably mange to get for it will be one like on skyetoymans pic but you'll need the bent thumb screws or it just wont look right...
you need to put up a pic!

This is the SD I found in an auction. Starting to get an idea of the correct parts to get for it, thanks to every one.
Still a bit confused about which tiller to get ? My SD is the supposed Navy issue ! so should it be brass ?/Users

Nice engine

You are lacking the following:
Does it have a clutch lever?
2 bladed SD prop
Tank mount brackets, which should be cast alluminium.
Tank should be steel, with bayonet type filler cap.
Tiller, black painted steel.
Carb, amal twin jet. Some had brass bodies, and also brass top on the float bowl.
Throttle lever, long amal made of brass I think.
Transom bracket, original would have been steel fabricated side mount to fit on army pontoons, these are very rare, so bronze bracket as early as possible would be best solution.
Lots of pictures of SDs on this forum, do a search and have a nose around all the SD threads

there is no evidence whatsover to support the theory that copper magneto covers equals engines delivered to the navy I'm afraid. Great engines, I like them.

Tank straps (Imperial Jubilee Clips).
Dome nut.
Fuel pipe.
Coolant pipe.
Tiller arm grip.
Some of the throttle levers were a white metal, I have no idea what it is.
Tiller arm rubber washers and wing nut.
Patience and luck tend to produce more results than money in this case! Sadly it's the same bits that everyone's after. The tanks and the throttle straps tend to rust after rough treatment, and after seventy years lots of swapping may have occurred.
Have a chat with John first of all, he may be able to help with some stuff, and Jan on this forum is very helpful.
Good luck

I guess this 3 blade prop was not standard on the SD, could it have been an optional extra, or is it just a later add on?

It's a later one

Lots of bits missing but they are a joy to work on. Plus the best sounding seagull of the whole bunch.
Best of luck. If Niander101 still has his brass throttle lever - he might pop it on ebay again

I have a spare amal two jet. It is later than a '45 but it is complete. just needs cable and throttle lever. I haven't undone anything as it came free a couple of weeks ago.
So i don't know the condition of the threads. PM me if you want it for postal cost only.
