Hello all, new to seagull ownership and new to the forum.
I have bought a 1967-1973 102 and have been cleaning it up for use, the primer button on the carb has come out and the spring is visable. Is the carb now U/S or can to still use and tape button down, I cant access the chamber to see if it should be conected to anything.
Kind regards
Rob.

No, you should be ok, the split pin that holds it down has probably broken, you just need to replace it.

Try some WD40. You can also add some inside the floating bowl from the holes it has. Leave it so for some days adding every now and then some WD40. Then hold the cover with a wrench and hit the wrench not hard with a hammer several times. That should work, at least it worked for me.
Bare in mind that too much power may destroy the threads.

The plunger on the fuel primer broke off whilst we were trying to get top off, if you push it back in the unit still pumps i think.

Plunger may has John SOS or you can search on ebay.co.uk for parts for the carb. But is it broken or is it just the split pin that broke?

Its has broken in half, you can see where metal has sheared off. Are the plungers all the same for carbs or is each model different? Really getting the bug for these old school engines now, very simple design but so clever!

Any Amal carb parts up to at least late 70 s will fit. Some member probably has a ruined carb body that may yield a cover.
Put a request on the wanted section.
