crankshaft -bushing freelay

Post by orso »

Anyboady could tell me the correct maximum "official" freeplay between upper and lower crankshaft ends and their bushings?
I rebuild many Seagull and other vintage outboard in my spare time, and I noticed that almost systematically ALL Seagul thast show to have been used a lot got a remarkable (up to 0.5 mm) freeplay in the upper krankshaft bushing. Surprisingli they do work fine in spite to such an enormous play.
Please, could anybody tell me the exat procedure for changing and reaming the bushings?. It is almost impossible to find in my country the correct ramer (long enough) Where can I buy it in GB?

Bushing freeplay

Of corse I am speaking of RADIAL freeplay, as axial (vertical) play is perfecly normal and necessary, according to official workshop manual
