stops on throttle cables

the push/pull control cables used on bikes, motorcycles, etc.
these have what look like lead or pot metal stops on the terminations...anyone know how to put something similar on the end of one that's been shortened?
i have a bag of the metal ferrules that slide over the plastic sheath. if i had a way of replacing the stop i'd have an ample supply of replacement throttle cables for my Seagulls.
i plan to try making a mold where the cable passes through, then pouring in lead i use to cast bullets when reloading pistol ammo, but figured i'd ask to see if anyone had any other ideas.
