I'll be there. Dead keen,
Never been out on Maraetai before, so, this ticks off another upper Waikato Lake
We need to talk to the others at Mangakino & see who's keen on Whakamaru or whatever lake is next on the list.

Hope you are running a seagull. Arapuni or Oakuri would be great contenders

So much water, so many outboards & so little time
Might give the Briggs & Stratton a run, or, maybe the longtail.
Distance looks about 20-Nm max by my estimate.

Should be just about enough to run in my latest creation. A 102 1951 hope it makes a good race engine. I hope these collectors appreciate my hard work by breaking a few more 102s, should make them a little more valuable. Last one had SD marked on the crankcase. Seems to be scrap metal crushed the bearing a little to much when I tightened the base plate screw.

Fantastic weekend. Rex I reckon a dam to dam race taking in the swing bridge would be the idea for a yearly event, heaps of fun and great place to stay with excellent food as well.

Event Follow up
Sensational! Despite the cold start & early fog, the weather turned out to wonderful clear day with little wind. A big turnout of some 35 or so participants with a wide variety of vessels from big trailer yachts to long-boats. A most enjoyable tiki-tour around the lake with it’s spectacular scenery. The adventure down the Mangakino stream was a highlight for many, with it’s rocky & narrow canyons & spectacular waterfall. To finish the day, a first class dinner was organised at the local tavern.

You Poms worry about a little weed and sticks to break your prop springs. On this lake we had to contend with floating rocks, some of them the size of footballs. Look at this photo all the lumps are rocks or logs in among the fine weed. These are all stuck in a eddy on the river we went up off the end of the lake.
