YES who was it. The idea that some one used underhanded tactics on this item brings into question some peoples morals. Yes i was the winning bider at the time , rant over. I hope everyone had a good Easter.

Yes, I was watching it also, would have been the dream project. Not sure what I would have bid too though.

That one looked like it had been outside, in the garden for many years, in fact I've never seen one with so little visible chrome that still rotated.

To retube the tiller exhaust & the drive shaft tube & rechrome to the same standard as when it was new, would cost approaching £150, perhaps your lucky you didn't get it.

I got one a while ago that had been left under a tree for 15 years & the chrome & birmabright were in a lot better condition than that, I wonder where it had been left?

Out of interest , what sort of price would be 'reasonable' for a similar in average restorable condition? (apart from the obvious answer - 'whatever some one will pay' ) I have a small (but growing) collection of Seagull and would love to own one. (Any offers!)

The register has been informed of at least 4 that have changed hands this year, this will make number 5, & I've been told of 2 that might be up for sale during the summer.

But the recent flurry of interest recently has raised the prices some.

Still miffed. Still would have liked to get my spanners on that!

I don't think its going to be a public auction, more like a private sale, as it should be.
Most will know what they are roughly worth.

I Dont think its worth as much as the owner may have paid. Then to re build it it would cost another fortune.
Still would have been a good project.

I would interested in buying one of these marstons, particularly one which needs a full restoration. Anything considered, any condition.

Oyster would you like me to put you on the list of people who wish to purchase a Marston, so the next time the register is asked to assist in the sale of one.

The last sale we assisted, the purchaser had it running within 24 hours & when he rang me to say thanks, was a very very happy boy! so happy he's promised the register some phosphor bronze bar so we can have some gearbox bushes remanufactured.

Also there are new ones come here with NO idea whatsoever!

This is not some kind of elite club but a worldwide public forum..

I would guess for a Marston about £500 at least restored?

But then some have a teardrop exhaust [like this one]some do not

so what difference would that make on value?
