H-A, what do you think the spec on building this would be, i.e. how many sheets, glass etc?
Looks quite like a wee yellow thing that pops up in pictures here every so often.

Perhaps the design could benefit from a cav plate to stop the porpoising.

For a 1939 design it's quite pretty, but very small, looks very over built, & needs the pilot position moved forward by almost a foot, as I'm a light weight i'd look like a figurehead driving that & with all those bulkheads & ribs I don't think I could carry it.

Here's a picture to show how many ribs & bulkheads the yellow one needed.

Good points Charles. It does look a neat wee toy though. Like yourself I'm on the lower scale of the weights and I would be steering with my pencil whilst I leant right forward. Could it be modernised a bit? I really like it. The question I ask myself, what's more fit for purpose, this one or H-A's masterpieces???

I don't see the point of building a hull that requires 50+ lbs of ballast right up in the bow, to permit you to use the steering in the coventional manner.

I think it's safe to say there are some major flaws in this design.

And they want more than $1000 for the complete kit.

Plans £25, build with WBP and epoxy £150.

Boats are being built and raced in 33 states and 7 countries, can't be all bad.

This class of racing boat has areas that can be improved, but they are restricted by class rules to keep the speed down.

I think I will send off for some plans so that I can keep in class rules. The boat must have a minimum weight of 72lbs, to meet US regs, not sure I will do that.

I've carried one of Raoul's boats and I guarantee it didn't weigh 20kg....

I was very involved with the build of Microgull 1, when it was first painted it weighted 39.4 lbs & if I remember right it was 11 ft 3" long.

It's been repaired several times in the last 8 years, it slid off the trailer 1 time & got towed down the road by the bow line, that took some glass & filler, because I had to fix it, & it's been painted several times, a coat of paint on a boat that big must weigh 1 lb.

I'd guess about 45 lb now.

I just wonder how these young ladies manage to steer in that position. One can't imagine where the tiller arm is going
